WHAT IS SUCCESS?

WHAT IS SUCCESS?

We shall begin our exploration  into the world of success by thinking on this video (Due credit is given to the owners).

Success has been given various definitions. Here are a few I have come across:

1. "Success is the achievement of a set goal."

2. "Success is measurable progress in a reasonable amount of time."

3. "Success is fulfillment of purpose."

4. "Success is overcoming oppositions in the way to accomplishment."

5. "Success is accomplishment of desires."

6. "Success could be defined as effective completion of an assignment to the satisfaction of the one gave the assignment."

7."Success means a person is reaching the maximum potential available to him at any given moment."

8. "Choosing to enter into the arena of action, determined to give yourself to that cause which will better mankind and last for eternity."

9. "Success is based on obedience to principles."

10. "Success is accomplishing what you were created to do."

11. "Success is getting fulfilled in one's area of assignment."

12. "All truly successful people...believe success is a process, that life is a journey. They don't believe success is defined by material wealth, climbing a certain mountain, or finally walking through one particular door. Rather, they believe success is a way of living that brings glory to God and contentment and peace to themselves."

13. "Since life is about the journey, not the destination, the fulfillment is going to come along the way. Whether you've reached your anticipated destination at the end of the journey is almost irrelevant. The contributions you make along the way is what's important."

14. "Success is progressive realization of a predetermined worthwhile goal."

15. "Success is the satisfying accomplishment in the pursuit of a given purpose."

From these definitions, we can say that success is not measured by what you've done compared to what others have done, but rather what you have done compared to what you should have done. So, success is personal. What you consider successful might not be success to me. Your success depends on what you intend to do, which might be completely different from what I want to do. So, I define success as a process of becoming a person you were created to be. It is a step by step realization of becoming that person. Every step you take in that direction is success.

Moreover, there's one common quality of success: it is positive and legitimate. Every one agrees that success is accomplishment of legitimate personal desire.
