DILIGENCE FOR SUCCESS

PRINCIPLES OF SUCCESS Series 30

DILIGENCE FOR SUCCESS

A wise man said, “Experience has shown that success is due less to ability than zeal. The winner is he who gives himself to his work body and soul.”

Diligence is hard work, but more than that, it paints the picture of someone who works and refuses to stop until the work is done successfully and satisfactorily. Diligence also paints the picture of doing things to the minutest detail and according to standard. Diligence is a habit of working harder and smarter until a task is accomplished.

A wise man said, “Success is five percent inspiration and ninety-five percent perspiration.” All of the vision, teachings, instructions and motivations one receives together make up five percent in the scale of success. What brings the bulk of success is putting these things to work, and continuing to work them until they work out.
A man of God said, “The future of any assignment is determined by the quality of labor input. Everything precious requires pressure to come out.” You cannot handle success until you have put your hands to work it out.

Another wise man said, “Many people miss opportunity because it is dressed in overall and looks like work.” If you develop the habit of work consistently for a long time, you will beat many people around you, because many people don’t like to work.

If you have been working and success seems not coming, then work harder and smarter. Work harder and be a leader. Somebody said, “Plough deep while the sluggard sleeps.” Wise Solomon said, “Do you see a man diligent in his business? He shall stand before kings and not before mere men.”

If you have failed, you’re not a failure until you stop trying. Failure is only a temporary defeat. Stand up and keep working. It’s better to fail at something than to succeed at nothing. Someone said, “Failure is an opportunity to start again, more intelligently.” If you don’t make a move because you’re afraid, then hear this. A Chinese proverb says, “A man who is afraid to cast a die will not throw six.”

You can change from failure to success.

Start by changing your mental attitude from negative to positive. Create a success-conscious state of mind. Believe you can do it. Tell yourself you can do it. Then, go ahead and do it. Somebody says, “Throw your heart over the bar and your body will follow.”

Nothing can stand in the way of a possibility thinker, not even failure. It was said that Thomas Edison failed five thousand times while trying to make an electric bulb. When told to abandon the project, Edison replied, “I’ve not failed. I’ve only discovered five thousand ways by which you cannot make electric bulb.” Somebody said, “Many of life’s failures are people who didn’t realize how close they were to success when they gave up.”

Keep working. If you don’t stop, you will work your way to success. Run with your vision. Pursue your dream. Every vision that lacks action will end in frustration.
In addition to the fact that it leads to success, hard work keeps you healthy. Hard work doesn’t kill; in fact, it heals! Idleness is dangerous. If you don’t work, you’ll wear out, the same way a house that’s not put to use decays. Therefore, put your hands to work. Hard work is a habit of high flyers.

Finally, Martin Luther King Jr. said, “If you cannot fly, run. If you cannot run, walk. If you cannot walk, then crawl. By all means keep moving!”
