HEALTHY THINKING
You
are what your thinking has made of you. And you cannot
rise above your thinking. As you can think your way to success and happiness,
so you can think your way to failure and unhappiness. Your mental attitudes can
make or break your life.
You
can think positive thoughts or negative thoughts. Positive
thought about people, events and situations is vital to attracting success in
life. On the other hand, negative thought about people, events and situations
attracts negative outcomes. Thoughts attract forces that work together to make
the thoughts a reality. So, you tend to realize what your mind thinks about all
day.
Positive
thinking empowers. It supplies strength to achieve the
seeming impossible. Positive mental attitude makes life meaningful. It attracts
and accelerates forces which work together for positive outcomes. Negative
thinking drains one’s energy and makes the person weak. It attracts forces of
discouragement and despondency. A negative thinker easily loses hope. He hardly
sees possibility in an idea. Obstacles halt his progress and he gives up. A
positive thinker sees possibility in every idea. He always sees the bright side
of life. The difference between successful and unsuccessful people is in their
thinking.
There’s
an awful way in which what we think become a reality.
Therefore, fill your mind with thoughts of faith, love and goodness, and those
qualities will follow you. If you think evil, fear, hatred, failures, then you
are inviting trouble. If you entertain thoughts of impossibility, you’ll be
defeated. But if you deliberately fill your mind with possibility thinking,
you’ll meet challenges and overcome difficulties.
The
condition of the mind – whether negative or positive – affects proper
functioning of the body systems. Experts have
discovered that a mind filled with negative thinking causes emotional disorder
and endangers the body systems. Various killer diseases have been connected
with negative thinking. Experts say resentment, hate, grudge, ill-will and
jealousy – attitudes which come from a negative mind – produce ill health.
Fear, that is fear of things that might happen, is especially a dangerous
mental attitude. Fear impacts the mind, brain and heart negatively, and its
damaging effects can be seen in the cells, tissues and organs of the body. Fear
is a major cause of hypertension.
Anger
and unforgiveness are two other mental attitudes that have damaging effects on
the body systems. So, psychiatrists advocate that we
forgive if we must be mentally healthy. They say you need extra energy to
maintain anger and hatred than you need to establish peace, love and
forgiveness. The excess energy of anger and hate pours in other directions to
cause mental illness, hypertension, ulcer, constipation and so forth.
The
Romans say, “A sound mind is a sound body.” When your mind
is free of damaging thoughts and emotions, your body will be healthy. When you
fill your mind with qualities of faith, goodwill, hope, faith and possibility,
you attract forces that will help you actualize those qualities in your life.
If you have been offended, please forgive, because by forgiving you preserve
your physical, mental and social well being.
